About AreaSized

AreaSized is a small independent tool. It does one thing: it takes a number like “0.4 acres” or “180 sq ft” and draws it at true scale next to things you already know.

How the drawings work

Everything is drawn in real feet. The area you type becomes a rectangle, and comparison objects are tiled inside it at their real size. The count shown is how many whole objects fit in that exact shape, which is why a long room and a square room with the same area can fit a different number of cars.

Where the object sizes come from

The objects use common reference dimensions, not any one product:

• Twin bed 39 × 75 in, king bed 76 × 80 in (standard US mattress sizes)
• Parking space 9 × 18 ft (a common US stall size; local codes vary)
• Midsize car about 6.1 × 15.7 ft
• Two-car garage 24 × 24 ft
• Tennis court 36 × 78 ft (doubles), NBA basketball court 50 × 94 ft
• American football field 160 × 360 ft including end zones
• Soccer pitch about 223 × 344 ft (68 × 105 m, a common professional size)
• Manhattan block about 264 × 900 ft (blocks vary)

Real objects vary, so treat the counts as a good picture, not a survey.
